Teresa McGarry is very active in her community and helping those who want to make a better life for themselves and their family. She has been active in her city’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), local Optimist Club, and Girl Scouts. In her church, she has taught Sunday School for the K-6 graders, lead youth group, sung in the choir, was choir director, served as part of the diaconate, served on the board, and was a leader in her church’s security team.

In 2013, Teresa started a non-profit called Moneytalk Financial Foundations helping individuals and families become financially stable through financial literacy, financial coaching, and ongoing support. She has developed her own curriculum, taught workshops in the local middle schools, high schools, colleges, individual workshop sessions, our academy 6-week series, and financial coaching. Lessons learned through the Financial Fix show are incorporated into the basic financial fundamentals taught in the non-profit workshops.

Teresa believes everyone should be treated with respect and dignity. When someone is trying to do the work to become financially stable, sometimes all they need is for someone to come along side them and give them a chance. We strive to be a hand-up, not a hand-out. Together, with God leading the way, we can do this!
